The Daiwa Tanacom 500 is a compact power assist electric reel. Much smaller and lighter (weighs only 28.2 ounces) than typical electric reels, the Tanacom 500's compact design opens up new avenues in how electric reels are utilized. Thanks to the reduced size and weight, the reel can be fished in the angler's hand rather than in a rod holder, making them ideal for stand-up deep drop fishing. Additionally, because they can fish lighter lines, they are ideal for targeting tilefish, cod, halibut, lingcod, or sand dabs. The Tanacom 500 can also be used for trolling and can even serve as a light kite reel for offshore kite fishing applications.
The reel is built around a stout aluminum frame that remains rigid even under heavy loads. It's incredibly powerful thanks to 6 ball bearings and a roller bearing and can exert 33-pounds of drag pressure. Variable speed control allows real-time adjustments to the fish retrieval speed. The reel's power cord is also incredibly rugged in and durable.
