How To Fish the Jack Hammer Chatterbait x Strike King Rage Swimmer Combo
One of the great things about the Z-Man Jack Hammer Chatterbait is how easily it fishes, no matter what paddle tail swimbait you pair with it!
There are two main ways to fish this combo. The first is the traditional straight retrieve. This involves casting the combo to your desired spot and retrieving it steadily back to the bank or boat. You can get creative by pausing the retrieve for a few seconds, allowing it to flutter down closer to the bottom, then resuming the retrieve so it vibrates right into a fish's mouth!
The second method is extremely effective when bass are aggressive, such as during the summer and spring pre-spawn when they're territorial. This method involves "hopping and skipping" the combo along the bottom and middle of the water column! Cast toward underwater cover or a laydown of branches and let it sink to the bottom. Once it hits bottom, quickly and strongly jerk your rod up, creating a lot of vibration. Then, reel in a bit, let it sink again, and repeat! You will FEEL a bite with this method so just set the hook hard as soon as you do and congrats you've got a fish!
Part of what makes the Chatterbait so fun is that even though there are two "main" ways to fish it, you can still get creative and experiment. Have fun with it, try different retrieve speeds, different rigging methods, and just play around and let the Chatterbait do what it does best: catch fish! Tight Lines!
