This new KVD 10x will get down and grind. Great crankbait

My KVD 10XD “Gizzard Shad” came in the mail Friday November 17th, 2023. And I have been wanting to get this color for a couple months and I FINALLY GOT IT! This lure looks very real. A good color. I am VERY GLAD I got the KVD 10XD in this Gizzard Shad color!

I took this lure out for its first fishing adventure today on Saturday November 18th, 2023. I found this nice deep drop off from shore at this one of many bodies of water I fish.

I took it to this spot in particular because I caught a nice 2.5lb - 3lb Largemouth Bass on a KVD Squarebill earlier this year -AND A FEW DAYS AGO I HOOKED A BIG NORTHER PIKE! ABOUT 33 to 36 INCHES; FROM THIS SAME SPOT, BUT HE SHOOK ME OFF ABOUT 15 FEET FROM SHORE, BECAUSE OF A DULL FRONT TREBLE HOOK ON ONE OF MY OTHER LURES! So I wanted to try and catch him again on this KVD 10XD Gizzard Shad. The color of this lure is really good; very natural minnow / shad color pattern. I knew it would stand out real good in the deeper waters.

I was working this KVD 10XD Gizzard Shad for about 51 minutes before the lure got hit! I caught a 25.5 inch Northern Pike on my NEW KVD 10XD “Gizzard Shad!” Not the big one I lost from about a week ago, but it was a nice size Northern Pike. He smashed the lure kind of deep down about 15 feet from shore; kind of similar to the last time but I just caught a smaller Northern Pike this time. -BUT HEY! 1 Fish, is better than… NO Fish.

I LOVE THESE KVD 10XD’s! I have 7 of the colors in total as of now. I still have a couple colors that are on my targeted list to purchase. This “Gizzard Shad” and “Natural Bream” are my two NEWEST! Now I just gotta catch a fish on the “Natural Bream” KVD 10XD.

NOW ABOUT THE LURE! These KVD 10XD’s are a very good weight! They have a nice tight HARD wobble! -And MAN do they dive! -DEEP! They are so fun to pull and feel them working and wobbling so tight and hard! They feel even better on a fiberglass rod! I use a 9 foot rod with about 300 yards 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced Superline Braid (8lb mono equivalent test diameter). And I personally have a 18 inch 40lb Heavy Duty Eagle Claw Steel Wire Leader tied on JUST IN CASE A MUSKY OR NORTHERN PIKE WANTS THE LURE! Because these lures are up there in price and I am not loosing any of them. Anyway as I was saying; with my 9 foot rod, line, and leader setup I am throwing this KVD 10XD WAY FAR OUT THERE! I can lob the thing 20,30, 40, 50 yards easily. And I can bomb it out even further if I really tried.

The internal weight transfer system of the KVD 10XD is VERY hefty and feels right! The paint and finish on these KVD 10XD’s are WAY BETTER than the KVD Squarebill paint jobs in terms of “chip proof paint / finishing” the KVD 10XD’s have a very durable finish / coating and I really like it! They will get very minor, slight Knicks from the VERY SHARP HOOKS! And some light scratches from a toothy predator (depending on how BIG). But overall the durability of the finish / coating of the KVD 10XD’s are… I give them a 9 out of 10 rating.

The hooks of these KVD 10XD’s are VERY IMPRESSIVELY SHARP! -STICKY SHARP! They’re big, so you won’t loose too many fish. And they seem to have a long and sharp point! The split rings are: thick and hefty; and will handle big heavy Bass, or whatever else decides to bite these big crank-baits.

-THEY FLOAT AND RISE! And fairly quickly too depending on your line diameter. With my setup I have to sometimes wait about 3 to 7 seconds or more depending on the depth of the body of water I am fishing. Crank-bait fishing is 100 PERCENT DEPTH CONTROL (spoken from KVD himself)!

The bill is strong and solid if you like bangin em off the rocks. Overall these KVD 10XD’s are very well built lures! KVD knows what he wanted / wants in a bigger heavy duty crankbait to have the durability and the heft, and strength to Haul up Hogs and Pigs (BIG Largemouth Bass) and to catch and haul / bring in BIG Northern Pike, BIG Musky, and BIG Walleye and / or whatever else you may possibly catch with these KVD 10XD’s. Get you some and try them out! I think you will like them. I LOVE them!

From the end of the lure to the head of the lure measures 4 inches. From the end of the lure to the tip of the bill is 6 inches. And then the hooks will add a little additional length if you count them too. I do not know how much they weigh, but they have the weight you need to cast them extremely far! Depending on your rod length and rod mater you can cast farther. My setup I use a fiberglass rod (9 foot Daiwa FT Surf Rod), paired with a PENN Fierce III 5000 size spinning reel with 300 yards of 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced Superline with a 18 inch Eagle Claw Steel Wire Leader. Because we have toothy predators that will bite anything! And these lures ain’t cheap to continue replacing.

Big bait equal big fish. Deep diver, paint does not chip easy. Love it!

Have caught several fish on these. Say they run 20+ feet. I've had them bumping bottom at 30-40 feet!
