The Daiwa Zakana Casting Jig is a saltwater casting jig with a small baitfish profile. Aptly-named, "Zakana" is derived from a Japanese slang term for small baitfish and this lure does an excellent job of mimicking one. It has a super aerodynamic body that's easy to cast super far and, once underwater, offers one-of-a-kind erratic wounded baitfish swimming action.
While the Zakana may have a body shape similar to other saltwater casting jigs on the market, the Zakana is the first to have a horizontal line tie (as opposed to vertical), which makes its swimming action different from other jigs you have with this profile. To top it all off, the Zakana has line-through construction and is pre-rigged with VMC 9620 saltwater-grade treble hooks and heavy-duty split rings, making tackle failure virtually impossible.

I can cast these lures a mile. I surf fish the West coast, and these lures (40 gm) are the perfect size in calm to medium waters. I use the sardine and the bone colors. Get a few bites with them, but to be honest I prefer using bucktails. But in windy days, with onshore winds, these are great because you can still cast far.

Deadly lure fishing for calico bass, barracuda, halibut, etc. I prefer over colt snipers, different colors to match the hatch, I’ve seen guys setting them up to catch big blue fin tuna. Just cast out and retrieve or jig it just off the bottom.

Awesome Jigs!
I go party boat fishing and decided to see if these jigs were any good. I tied a loop knot on a 40 gram zebra glow, cast it out, and fish on! I live in the North East part of the US and this jig caught bluefish and chub mackerel when not too many of the boat was catching anything. I mean nearly every cast was catching fish! The action is fantastic, as the jig would wiggle from side to side like a fleeing bait fish. The treble hooks are very strong, so I wasn't worried about losing fish from straightened hooks. I would pause every now and then to let the sun renew the glow stripes on the jig. These jigs are at a great price point and I would buy in bulk to get the free shipping.

Upon advice from daughter about this trolling lure in the black and silver color., I picked one up and went up to Michigan. Her lake is pretty clear and we went out trolling for whatever would hit it. We were successful in catching largemouth and northerners. This lure is a Winner.
