They catch fish but...

These are awesome baits that caught many smallmouths in Northern New York. The only issue is the small tail constantly gets bit off so your lucky to catch multiple fish on one bait.

Gary Yamamoto 2.5 Inch Yamatanuki Heavy Soft Plastic - 10 Pack

Smallmouth Candy

I had the opportunity to fish this bait out on the mighty Columbia River this past weekend and I am loving it! I rigged mine up on a small 1/0 - 3/16 oz Gamakatsu "Football 24" Jighead. With the added weight of the jighead, I was able to get it down quicker and increase the bottom contact to feel the slightest of bites out in deep water. It wasn't long before a nice three-pound Smallmouth annihilated it! I was throwing out a drop shot as well that day, but the Yamatanuki was getting hit way harder. Due to the way I rigged mine up, I found this little bait to be pretty durable. After 3 hard fighting fish and swift hooksets, my Yamatanuki was still alive. The bulk of the bait helps the durability, and with 10 baits per pack I think the value is great. I can't wait to get back out and try the "Mimizu" color. I highly recommend the Yamatanuki.

Yamatanuki 2.5

The yamatanuki's horizontal fall and flutter s irresistible to smallmouth and they hit it hard. They can tear easily but I've been wacky rigging them with an o ring which makes them more durable. Another winner from Yamamoto baits!
