Features:

  • The Rapala Original Floater F09 is a classic 3 1/2 inch, 3/16 ounce balsa wood jerkbait/minnow lure.
  • Twitch it on top or retrieve it as a shallow runner.
  • Wounded minnow action is irresistible to trout, walleye, bass, and more.
  • Pre-rigged with size 7 black nickel VMC® hooks.
  • Available in over 10 classic colors.

The lure that started it all - the Rapala Original Floater - is still at it all these years after Lauri Rapala first threw his cork and tinfoil prototype on a Finnish lake in 1936. This F09 model measures 3 1/2 inches, weighs 3/16 ounce and runs up to 5 feet deep unassisted. Whether twitched on top as a surface bait, retrieved as a shallow runner, weighted with a split shot for medium depth or bottom walked off a three-way swivel or bottom bouncer, the wounded minnow action continues to be irresistible to trout, walleye, bass, pike, and muskie everywhere. Lures come pre-rigged with size 7 premium black nickel VMC® hooks. Hand tuned and tank-tested to ensure that world renowned OG Floater action straight from the box. Available in over 10 classic colors.

Back then when we didn't have that many options, this was one of them. The catch rate was bad. However, the biggest ones are pretty good for big fish.

Best jerk bait and shallow runner on the market for over 45yrs for me

I love the silver, blue, rainbow trout original Rapelas. I have caught panfish to large mouth with them. The fishing instructions on the box works but my technic slays. For panfish I use slow stop and go retrieves, steady, pop hard and stop, and wobble. The wobble under bridges in NC is deadly. I use up to size 5 for this. The silver original and rainbow colors. For bass size 7 to size 14 I use pretty much the same speeds. For slow bass And chain pickerel I use the snatch fast and ride continuously method. As soon as it surfaces snatch fast repeating till you hit the boat or shore. My winter spring technic for all is steady retrieval while slightly popping wrist. I developed all these technics own my own from childhood to present. Other may do the same but I don’t copy cat when it comes to my rapelas. I hope this helps some one. The broke bakes are awesome in the cold season with a stop and go retrieve or steady. The broke back shad raps with shady, baby shad and maybe baby bass from smallest to 3.5’’ are my killer trolling lures for bass, striped bass, white perch and yellow perch.

Discount Tackle beats the competition! Great pricing, stellar low cost shipping and availability! I always find my lures here! Others just blow smoke. Rainbow trout Rapala is a must have in the streams I fish. Over 40 fish last Saturday alone. Booyah!

My go-to lure

This is a great lure - I catch bass with this F09 Rapala consistently - if they aren't biting when I "twitch" it back to shore, then they bite when I reel it in slow/medium speed - always happy to fish with this! Had a great first experience buying this from Discounttackle; will buy more Rapalas this summer.
