I had the opportunity to fish this bait last weekend and even though I didn't catch a fish on it, I was impressed with the overall performance of the Gobius. The Gobius has a nice tailkick that gives it a very lifelike action. It is not an exaggerated kick like you'd get on a regular boot-tail swimbait. The bait itself was a lot of fun to fish, I was able to launch it on a heavy action 7 foot 2-inch rod, running 14lb test line. The bait does a good job at transferring bottom contact feedback, and best of all it is pretty hard to snag! Although the fish did not commit that day, I had tons of fun hopping this little bait over rocks and boulders and watching it come through underwater vegetation. Would've been a five-star review, but my only complaint is that the hook wedged between the split dorsal weed guard penetrates through the guard itself while deflecting cover quite often. Other than that, this is a great jig replacement for situations where you need a more finesse natural presentation. I will be keeping it in my tackle box, especially come springtime when I know the fish are moving around and hunting! No doubt in my mind it's getting smoked! Try it!
