The ultimate braid in the J-Braid family, Daiwa J-Braid Grand x8 is some of the strongest and most abrasion-resistant 8-carrier braided fishing line ever put on the market. Yet, despite its durability, J-Braid Grand x8 is also extremely soft, supple, and easy-to-spool.

How is a fishing line with such remarkable characteristics possible? J-Braid Grand x8 is spun with IZANAS, a new, state-of-the-art, high-modulus fiber that is leaps and bounds stronger than any other fiber material on the market. Now, you may be asking yourself: "Hey, doesn't every fishing line claim to be the strongest, most supple line out there? How is this stuff any different?" And you wouldn't be wrong for wondering. Many a fishing line company has made such a claim with little, if any, evidence to support it. But the fine folks at Daiwa don't play like that: when they make a claim, they stick by it and back it up. And that's why in the graph below you can see that, when compared with other fiber materials on the market, nothing exhibits a strength index quite like IZANAS.

It's roughly four times stronger than polyester nylon (what most monofilament is made of), twice as strong as fluorocarbon, and is even stronger than aramid, a class of military- and aerospace-grade fibers that includes Kevlar (aka the stuff bulletproof vests are made of), among others.

Way better than original J-Braid

Original 8 strand 8 & 10# test would snap on hooksets and fish fights which my fave Sufix 832 in the same #tests would never do.

Took a chance on the promise of improved Izanas fiber used in the Grand and am pleasantly surprised. No more mystery breaks or wind knots of the original and the Grand is smoother and smaller diameter than 832 so casts noticeably farther in the same # tests.

6# J braid

I like J braid for its softness and smooth casting. I have the 6 lb on three of my ultralights. It casts amazingly far and is very sensitive. I have however had a difficult time with wind knots and breakage. I have fished extensively for 58 years and am not new to taking care to keep line tight on a spinning reel to prevent birds nests. It has not been a problem with the 8 lb it 10 lb but the 6 has proven to give me problems be it green, gray, or fluorescent green. It may be too soft.

Daiwa J-Braid Grand x8 Braided Line is awesome! I love the visibility of the color but most important how supple the line is. Spun it up on my new Okuma Ceymar 2500 and it casts like no other. The line comes right off the spool so smooth and never get spun up around the bail. Perfect.
