Sharp and strong. Appear to be very well-made to tight tolerances. Can attest to the sharpness based on each time the hook latched onto my finger if my attention wavered even for a second when I swapped out manufacturer's trebles for these. As an added bonus, these arrived several days earlier than estimated and that was with them being sent cross country.

These VMC hooks are sharp, strong, and perfect for replacing treble hooks on lures. Small treble hooks (standard on many hard lures) are relatively weak. They often bend, break, or pull out of the mouth of a large fish. I put these VMC inline hooks (3/0 size, to match the weight of the treble hooks replaced) on a 2-1/2" wake bait (see photo). The lure's action and rattle were not impaired in any way. Lest you think this lure is too small to interest a large fish, they key in on the size of the bait in the area. This 2-1/2' length matches the schools of pilchards and finger mullet we often have in my part of inshore Florida. Big snook, tarpon, and Jack Crevalle will smack this with abandon-- speckled trout and redfish, too. Small fish are harder to catch with larger hooks, and also much easier to release with less harm. Large fish get hooked securely and the hooked-to-landed ratio improves. They can also be released with less harm, unless they're headed to the dinner table. Discount Tackle had the lowest price I could find. The shipping charges were very reasonable. Best of all the hooks arrived in Florida two days after ordering (shipped the same day I ordered, from Oregon!). Anything VMC is the way to go. Sharpest hooks I've ever seen and sometimes I wanna change out trebles to drag lures across rough stuff but most importantly, keep the cabbage of my lures every cast.

Used these to replace the hooks on some lures that didn't work right, changed the trebles out and worked great. Very sharp and hold up great when you catch cow nose rays as much as us in the Chesapeake.
