Daiwa Saltist Light Action 2-Piece Spinning Surf Rods are a series of spinning surf fishing rods designed specifically for light tackle surf and jetty fishing. In particular, these rods have been fine tuned for catching smaller saltwater species like surf perch, corbina, shallow rockfish, small schoolie stipers, and halibut.

Well-suited for braided superlines, these rods include Daiwa's X-45 bias construction and HVF high-modulus carbon graphite technology for greater strength, sensitivity and hook setting power. Additionally, the rod's EVA foam rear grip makes the rod easy to control even when wet.

The rod also features SeaGuide® saltwater-ready line guides for durability and even has specialized line guide spacing on two of the models, STIN762LFS and STIN832MLFS, to optimize them for drop-shot and jerkbait/ripbait casting, respectively.

Available in 5 rod length power/action/combinations to suit different surf fishing techniques.

Good looking rod BUT.

Rod was performing well until the tip section snapped on the 2nd hook up😡

Great Rod

I had this rod more than a year and it's been handling good not planning to replace it anytime soon. I got the 9 foot rod paired with a Certate 4k. It cast lucky craft, swimbaits and small rapalas great and a light action. Also I like fishing off the rocks and sometimes in jetties and having the 9foot its a most. Most of the time use a 2-3 meter 30lb leader with an FG knot and surprisingly I don't get wind knots when casting since the guide are kind of small FG knot going through. Over all a rod well worth the money for surf fishing and jetty/rock fishing. So far the biggest fish I land with this rod was a 31 inch Halibut off the rocks.

Where do I start?

I’ve used this rod for 3 weeks after using the daiwa north coast which costs half as much.
It is rated for to 1 oz and used for light Socal surf fishing for bass and halibut.
My style of fishing is cadging Lucky Craft lures into the surf for halibut and White Sea bass. The lure is 5/8 oz and I do 200-600 casts a session.
The rod Doesn’t have enough backbone for this lure and not a lot of power in hook sets. I think it should be rated for 3/4 oz tops.
The rod tip guide came apart at the weld already. Daiwa wanted me to mail it to them and discount tackle was very helpful.
The top piece of the rod comes loose and twists every 60 casts or so which is annoying. I like the $70 north coast better.

Amazing Rod

Got this rod for surf fishing in SoCal and I got to say it’s the best rod in my arsenal. Paired with a Diawa BG 4000 it can catch anything from perch, to stripers and halibut. 5/5 would recommend.
