Lew's KVD LFS Speed Spool Baitcasting Reels are a new series of low-profile casting reels developed in conjunction with bass fishing legend and 4-time Bassmaster Classic winner Kevin VanDam (KVD). They were designed to KVD's exacting specifications and are jammed packed with features competitive bass anglers appreciate.

The KVD LFS Speed Spool is constructed with a 1-piece aluminum frame that houses a 34mm anodized aluminum spool, high strength solid brass gears, and P2 Super Pinion™ bearing supported pinion gear for rock-solid dependability. For long casting and smooth retrieve, the reel also has a 10 bearing system and a Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) dual cast control system that utilizes both an external click-dial for setting the magnetic brake and internal centrifugal disk-mounted brakes.

For angler convenience and comfortable operation, it also includes a bowed aluminum 95mm reel handle with EVA paddle knobs, audible click star drag, zirconia line guide, Patented retractable Speed Keeper® bait keeper.

Available in 6.2:1, 7.5:1, and 8.3:1 gear ratios in both Right and Left Hand retrieve.

Very nice and I like it very much

I have not been able to use the reel yet due to everything being frozen over, but I like the size, feel and quality of the reel. It feels very similar to the Speed spool and the Custom Black. I have it spooled up with Strike King Contra 30# braid, and I've made some casts with it in the back yard and It's very smooth and easily adjustable. I like all the options it has and the fact that it has an aluminum frame, dual brakes, and lube port. I like the Winn grips on my other Lews reels, but these EVA grips are very comfortable too. I got this reel on sale, and the Strike King Contra braided line came with it free so for that reason it was a great deal.
I like the reel, and look forward to using it as soon as I can.

This is a well designed reel at an affordable price. I also have the equivalent spinning reel which is equally well constructed. Looking forward to many years with these reels.

Spooled with 20 lb PowerPro braided line, casts really far! Internal brake with 2 pins off and 2 on; external braking knob set 8-7.5 works really well. A very smooth reel. The 8.3:1 is super fast; using it for crankbaits and other reaction baits. Suggest a lower gear ratio for all other purposes other than cranking or flipping.
