Awesome finish on the bail, smooth cranking action, and it reels in fish rather smoothly. Quality reel for an affordable price.

Light weight reel that looks good. The reel action is smooth.

Great deal, smooth action

Spinning reels haven't changed too much from the 70's in Upstate NY but they were a lot heavier back then. I gave the Kalon O Blackout reel a try and other than the funky materials that give it a black camo-like appearance and the reduced weight, its a lot like the reels from the 70's, but smooth and way lighter. Very smooth action, reversible for left/right handers, spools and casts well. Does everything right and looks cool doing it.

Color option

I have a bunch of reels all Shimano or Abu Garcia. I prefer mid to high-end stuff, but I didn't really like the color options from Shimano or Abu in the reels I wanted. This one looks really good and matches my Powell Max rode nicely. The reel feels solid and that's one thing I like over my Shimano reels, the handle is one piece so play won't develop over time. I laced it up with 10lb braid and it casts really nicely. No issues with line management.
